Therapy for children is different than it is for adults. In my experience, while most children are able to talk and understand what is being said, talk therapy does not work. Children are innately creative and enjoy playing, creating art, or moving. Children are also very resilient with the capacity to heal. Play is the inherent language of kids, and role play comes naturally for most.
In addition to things like playing, Mindfulness works beautifully. There are many schools that utilize Mindfulness with their students. Mindfulness helps children feel more empowered in their life.
There are different ways to work with kids. My approach is discovering what works best for each individual child and implementing that.
