Some people just need to have a safe space to talk and feel heard. In my experience most benefit from including other modalities as well. Here are some methods that work interchangeably:
Mindfulness is an evidence based practice that teaches simply how to be present in the moment without judgement. It is paying attention in the moment to things such as your surroundings, breathing, and sounds in awareness, It helps turn down inner and outer distractions and promotes feeling more peaceful overall. It lowers feelings of stress, worry, and anxiety.
Body Wisdom Everybody has access to the wisdom of their body. It is where you can discover your intuition, in your gut. Sometimes when you have a thought or a feeling it is felt in the body as a sensation. Becoming aware of internal sensations allows linking them to thoughts, emotions, and meaning.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy This is an approach that links beliefs to an awareness of behavior. Exploring thoughts and their patterns helps to look at beliefs and how those lead to behaviors. Changing thoughts and beliefs can change behavior.
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change"
